BEING LEISHA

  1. What are your favorite things to do in your spare time?
  2. What is your favorite Bible verse?
  3. Do you read as much as you write? What book(s) are you reading right now?
  4. Tell us about your family.
  5. How do you find time to write while being a mother, being a wife, and homeschooling your children?
  6. If you could have one dream come true, what would it be?

Peace on earth. Goodwill to men. I struggle, a lot, with the cruelty and the spiritual blindness in this world, and I encourage everyone to pray not only for the lost but also for the complacent. But if you were to ask what dream I would want for myself, it is far more difficult to answer. My husband would tell you that I’m hard to buy gifts for because I’ll so seldom say what I want. But maybe it’s because I already have the most important things. I used to pray that God would use me and I believe that prayer has begun to be answered. I want my writing to honor him and to be a blessing to others, to touch hearts with the goodness, the greatness, of God. I want to be able to give more. And when it’s all said and done, I want to know that my work has been pleasing in his eyes.

Coming Fall 2010!

It is autumn of 1920 and Leah Breckenridge is desperate to find a way to provide for her younger daughter. After losing her husband and infant son in an accident, she is angry at God and fearful about the future. Finding refuge in a boardinghouse run by her late husband's aunt, Leah's heart begins the slow process of mending. Is it the people who surround her—or perhaps this very house—that reach into her heart with healing?

Delightful, realistic characters and skilled writing make The House on Malcolm Street a treasure. Leisha Kelly's fans and new readers alike will find this simple story about the complexities of life an engrossing read.
